Boiling got off to a slow start, but yesterday we made 10 drums, about 380 gallons and we should make another 6 drums (200 gallons) today. Firing up the evaporator for the first time each season is always a bit scary. Any number of things can go wrong (at any point in time). So, There's always a little trepidation and a lot of preperation. Thankfully, the first boil this year brought no major snafus. The weather has been good and the forecast continues to look good. All in all it has been a good start to the season. Click below for some images from the sugarwoods.
